The Research Center of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) – was established in 2019, to create a one-stop research facility housing of all the HMU scientific & technological disciplines through six research Institutes. HMURC mission is to perform forefront research in its Institutes, to promote innovation and competitiveness for the benefit of society
The Institute of Emerging Technologies (i-EMERGE) is a multidisciplinary research institution focusing on frontier science and technology of cutting-edge materials and production processes with the potential to enable sustainable technologies, whose manufacturing is currently unrealized. The main objectives of i-MEET are to advance the discovery, innovation, development, and industrial employment in the multidisciplinary area of nanotechnologies and advanced materials for a broad range of cross-cutting fields, to enhance the quality of life and to achieve sustained economic and citizens benefits, in line with the EU Green Deal approach. There are currently three research divisions:
- Nanotechnology and Printed Electronics
- 3D-Printing and Additive Manufacturing
- 5G and Internet of Things applications,
The divisions each of critical mass, embrace the full spectrum of fundamental science through to applied engineering. i-MEET leads the Energy Generation activities of the FET-Flagship initiative Graphene, participates in the new established “Emerging Printed Electronics” European Infrastructure, the European Perovskite Initiative and in the Advanced Technology Higher Education Network (ATHENA) funded under the European Universities Initiative.
